Transforming Spaces, Elevating Life
Welcome to Damien Thorpe Painting & Decorating, a business built on reliability, cleanliness, and attention to detail. I am Damien Thorpe, a time-served NVQ Level 3 painter with 25 years of experience in the painting and decorating trade. I am based in Worsley but serve the Greater Manchester area, working as a sole trader who can call on other skilled decorators for larger projects.
My journey in the painting and decorating trade began after leaving school when I joined a decorating company. During my time with this company, I worked on various projects, from renovating pubs, offices, schools, new build houses to domestic work. This experience enabled me to acquire a wide range of decorating skills, from applying different paint types and wallpapering, including wide vinyls, murals, and spraying. Upon finishing my apprenticeship and gaining my NVQ Level 3 qualification, I travelled around Australia for a year, using my decorating skills to supplement my income. Upon my return, I rejoined the same company and built my way up to foreman. In 2013, I decided to work for myself and established Damien Thorpe Painting & Decorating, a business that has since built up a satisfied client base, including loyal, repeat customers.
Services
At Damien Thorpe Painting & Decorating, I offer a personal service that covers all aspects of interior and exterior decoration. I start from the preparation of surfaces, filling and sanding right through to the application of the paint and wallpaper. I use a dust-free sanding system that eliminates dust when sanding filler on walls and woodwork, keeping your home clean during the decoration of your home.
Wallpapering
I can strip your old wallpaper, clean, fill, sand, and seal the walls, giving a perfect base for wallpaper. As an experienced paperhanger, I am able to hang all wall coverings, including murals. Whether it's a feature wall or a full room, you can entrust me to give any room a professional finish.
Interior Painting
Any interior painting starts with protecting all furniture, surfaces, floors, and carpets with plastic sheets, dust sheets, and carpet protectors. Preparation is the most important factor in any paint job, and something I pay particular attention to. All walls and ceilings are filled and sanded using my dustless sanding equipment, minimizing any dust particles in the air. All woodwork is washed down and degreased, then filled and sanded before any paint is applied. I like to use the new water-based paints as they are longer-lasting, quick-drying, and stay white, meaning less disruption and longer intervals before redecoration.
Exterior Painting
Preparation is the most important part of any exterior painting for a long-lasting finish. Before any painting commences, I clean all dirt from surfaces and remove any flaking and loose paint. Any rotting wood is removed and filled with a resin called Repair Care for a long-lasting repair. Any bare surfaces are primed and then top-coated with high-quality exterior products designed for a long-lasting finish.
FAQs
*How much do you charge?*
With each job, I will come and discuss the work to be carried out with the customer. If the job is straightforward, I sometimes can give a verbal quote there and then, which is followed up with a detailed written quote for the whole job. Once this price has been agreed, it doesn't change unless there is a change in the specification by mutual agreement.
*Do you supply the paint?*
I can provide all of the materials required for a decorating project. I generally recommend using the trade paints that I supply, but it's perfectly okay if a customer wants to supply their own, and I will quote labour only. I supply colour cards and samples.
*What type of paint should I use?*
