Transforming your outside space, one design at a time.

Plantlife Landscapes is managed by Owen Clarke, an experienced landscaper, garden designer, and horticulturist based in Cornwall. Holding an N.D in Horticulture and a B.A.(Hons) in Landscape Architecture, Owen and his team have a passion for the outdoors. We would like to work with you to enable you to realize the full potential of your outside space, from a small feature to a full design and build service.

By offering a fully integrated service, it enables us to provide creative garden design solutions and control the build quality and attention to detail that is key to a successful scheme. If your garden is large or small, or you only need assistance with a particular section, Plantlife Landscapes will provide a professional and creative garden design service that is hard to come by.

Unlike other garden designers, we provide transparency when it comes to prices so you know how much things will cost from start to finish. Our garden design and landscape architect services are provided in Plymouth, Exeter, Tavistock, Liskeard, Launceston, and many other areas throughout Devon and Cornwall. Take a look at some of the examples of completed designs in our gallery and please feel free to contact us for our friendly advice and a free initial consultation.

Design Process

The design and build process begins with discussing your needs and budget to help develop a 'Design Brief.' This written framework outlines your needs, likes, and dislikes, ensuring that we understand your vision and preferences. We will then conduct a site survey to assess the current state of your garden and identify any potential challenges or opportunities.

Next, we will develop an individual design based on creative solutions to the problems posed in the design brief. You will then be presented with the plan and a quote for the proposed works for your approval, along with samples of proposed hard landscape materials. On approval of the plan, we will discuss the implementation of construction works with as little disruption to you as is possible.

Gallery and Projects

Our gallery showcases a selection of completed designs and projects that demonstrate our expertise and creativity in garden design and landscaping. From small urban estates to large gardens and barn conversions, we have worked on a variety of projects throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Some of our notable projects include:

  • Stoke Climsland Cornwall, Large Garden: The property is a collection of converted farm buildings near Stoke Climsland Cornwall. The garden consisted of a number of disjointed areas, including the remains of a Cornish hedge dividing the primary space in half. A plan was presented to use a series of visual and physical links to create a cohesive space. The Cornish hedge was knocked through and framed with large granite pieces forming a visual and physical link to an otherwise little used area. An informal seating area was also created. A wildflower meadow was planted to soften and settle the timber structure into the landscape. A formal water garden was created with 'floating' stepping stones to the front door.
  • Plymouth Town House, Small Garden: The challenge for this Plymouth yard was to provide a usable outside space to enjoy, that contained some grass and lush planting in a pretty bijou space. The garden is divided up into areas with a small patio for seating, a lawn, and a variety of plants and flowers. The garden also includes a water feature and seating area, making it an ideal space for relaxation and entertainment.
