Who We Are
TOD & TAYLOR ARCHITECTS has been a leading practice in the field of building design, conservation, and architecture for many years. Our directors, ROGER TAYLOR and ROSALIND TAYLOR, are both RIAS Conservation Accredited Architects with extensive experience in the preservation and conservation of historic buildings. As a practice, we are committed to the idea that all buildings should be cared for and adapted for contemporary use, while preserving their historic integrity. Our dedication to this philosophy is reflected in our work, which encompasses a wide range of projects, from alterations and extensions to historic buildings, to the design of new builds.
Our Services
At TOD & TAYLOR ARCHITECTS, we offer a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our expertise encompasses everything from feasibility studies and design guidance, to historic building maintenance, conservation work, and project management. We understand that each client brings their own unique requirements to a project, and we pride ourselves on our ability to provide a tailor-made service that meets their specific needs.
Building Analysis & Condition Reports
Our team is experienced in conducting thorough building condition reports, which provide a comprehensive assessment of the building's condition. These reports are essential for identifying potential issues, prioritizing maintenance, and informing decision-making on the future of the building. We also offer feasibility studies, which explore the potential for alterations, adaptations, and extensions to historic buildings.
Design Guidance & Feasibility Studies
We work closely with our clients to understand their vision and goals for their project, and develop designs that meet their needs while respecting the building's historic integrity. Our feasibility studies examine alternatives and explore how projects might be developed to suit identified requirements, providing costed options that enable informed decision-making.
Conservation Strategies
We believe that every building has the potential to be adapted and preserved for future generations. Our conservation strategies are designed to ensure that buildings are protected and enhanced, while respecting their historic significance. We work with our clients to develop a tailored approach that balances the need to preserve the building's heritage with the need to adapt it for contemporary use.
Investigative Surveys
Our team conducts thorough investigative surveys, which involve rigorous examination of the building's fabric, including the condition of the stonework, roofing, and joinery. These surveys provide a detailed understanding of the building's condition, enabling us to develop effective conservation and repair strategies.
Access Audits & Risk Assessments
We provide access audits and risk assessments as required, which are essential for ensuring the safety and accessibility of historic buildings. These assessments provide a clear understanding of the building's condition and potential hazards, allowing our clients to make informed decisions about maintenance and development.
Grant Gaining & Funding
We have extensive experience in securing funding for conservation and restoration projects through grant making bodies such as Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Our expertise in grant writing and project management ensures that our clients receive the necessary funding to achieve their goals.
Project Management
Our project management services ensure that building projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards. We work closely with our clients to develop a project plan that meets their needs and ensures that the project is successfully completed.
