Welcome to Mambo Gardens, a landscaping and garden design company based in the coastal town of Margate. Our approach to garden design is shaped by a heightened ecological awareness, with the aim of creating gardens that not only look beautiful but also provide valuable ecosystem services. With over twenty years of experience in contemporary garden landscaping, our focus is on creating resilient gardens that encourage biodiversity, mitigate against shifting weather patterns, and plant with utility.

Mambo Gardens is operated by Simon Phillips, who has an MSc in Ethnobotany from the School of Anthropology and Conservation, University of Kent. Simon has worked for over twenty years in gardens across London, Surrey, and Kent and has extensive experience in both traditional and contemporary garden landscaping techniques. His research and travels have taken him on botanical research expeditions to South America, Oman, and India, and this experience is woven into the elements of our gardens.

Our Approach

At Mambo Gardens, we are inspired by the opportunities that every garden offers to contribute more deeply to improving our urban environment. We believe that gardens can become little nature preserves, supporting other species and other people in your neighborhood as a by-product of the design. We are inspired by the concept of reconciliation ecology, which looks to encourage biodiversity in human-dominated ecosystems. We aim to apply alternative permeable landscaping to mitigate against storm runoff, creating dynamic spaces that you can enjoy on multiple levels while also supporting other species and people.

• Garden Design: We work with you to create a garden design that reflects your preferences and meets your needs. We offer an initial free consultation to discuss your ideas and preferences, and then work on a plan for the garden layout and landscaping costs.
• Landscaping: Our team of experienced landscapers will bring your garden design to life, using traditional and contemporary landscaping techniques.
• Planting: We source and plant a range of plants that are carefully selected for their ornamental value, utility, and ecological depth.
• Maintenance: We offer maintenance services to ensure that your garden continues to look its best.
• Additional Services: We can also provide additional services such as irrigation, lighting, and hard landscaping.
