Our Story

Lockwood Carpentry was founded by Jonathan Everett in 2010. Jonathan's journey to owning his own carpentry business was unconventional, to say the least. After initially pursuing a career in civil engineering, he found himself working on a trawler in the North Atlantic and then as a manual labourer in the windswept Faroe Islands. It was during this time that he realised hands-on work was his calling.

Returning to Oxford, Jonathan completed a three-year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery. In 2011, he decided to take Lockwood Carpentry full-time, and it was at this point that he was inspired to create a fully outfitted carpenter's van. The process of designing and building an operational working space began immediately, and 'Iron Van' hit the road not long afterwards.

Jonathan combines his engineering background with architectural detail to create beautiful built-in furniture. He is passionate about his work and is always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of what is possible.
