September is a time for tidying up the garden, with the removal of fallen leaves and debris. October is ideal for planting hardy shrubs, herbaceous plants, and alpines, as well as laying turf.

November is a time for final pruning and tidying up the garden, with the removal of all debris and the preparation of gardens for the new year. December is a quieter month, with the focus on protecting tender plants from extreme weather and removing snow from branches.
