At Underwood and Company, we have a rich history that spans over five decades. The Street family has been at the helm of our journey, with Sidney Street starting out in his garage and later moving to our current premises in Horsell. Underwood & Company (Woodworkers Woking) Limited was established in 1954, and since then, we have been dedicated to providing high-quality joinery work.

Peter Street joined his father in 1958 and is still part of our team today, bringing a lifetime of experience and knowledge to our work. In 1985, the next generation of the Street family began their journey as a bench joiner, and over the years, they took on more responsibility. Today, Steve Street runs the company with his wife, ensuring that our values of quality, professionalism, and personal service continue to shine through.

We are a close-knit team with over 150 years of combined joinery knowledge. Our expertise has been honed over the years, and we are known for our commitment to delivering top-notch work that stands the test of time. We have worked with esteemed clients such as The National Trust and The Historic Building Company, as well as many local builders in the Woking area.

Our team offers a free quoting, measuring, and consultancy service to help you get the most out of your ideas. We are happy to visit by appointment or can simply quote work from suitable drawings or photographs. As a VAT-registered company, we are committed to providing you with the best possible service.

Services

At Underwood & Company, we offer a range of different services depending on your requirements. We can deliver finished joinery to local customers for their own builders to install from our local joinery works. Below, you can find examples of the range of work we do on a day-to-day basis. However, if you have something bespoke in mind, let us know, and we can give you a quote for the work.

• Furniture: We design and make furniture to your specifications, including sizes, finishes, and builds to suit your home. Using a range of hardwoods, manufactured boards, and veneers, we can turn your dreams into reality.

• Window Frames: We make traditional casement window frames, traditional box sliding sash window frames, storm proof window frames, and bay window frames. Our frames can be made with double glazed patterns to meet current building regulations or single glazed patterns for listed or historic buildings. We use either hardwoods such as Oak, Iroko, Idigbo, and Utile or Softwoods such as European Redwood.

• Doors, Internal, External, and Frames: We make a variety of doors, including stable doors, bi-folding external/internal doors, French doors, side light door frames, winged frames, panel doors, F.L.B doors (Framed, Ledged and Braced), and L.B doors (Ledged and Braced). We also use a range of woods such as ash, oak, walnut, iroko, idigbo, and mahogany.

• Gates: We make a range of gates, from passage ways to large driveways. We use softwoods, engineered softwoods, and a wide range of hardwoods.

• Staircases: We make most types of staircases and balustrades, except spiral. These can be made from a range of woods depending on requirements. We can also offer onsite fitting and finishing.
