Our Story

At World Basket, our love affair with India and the Far East began in the early 1970s, when we embarked on a magic bus trip overland to India. This journey opened our eyes to the joy of new cultures, with their vibrant colours and sounds. We were captivated by the intricate textiles, the beauty of the fabrics, and the craftsmanship of the artisans. Over the years, we have spent countless hours learning about textiles and the techniques used to create them.

We take pride in our longstanding relationships with knowledgeable textile dealers and suppliers from around the globe. We visit their factories and workshops, personally selecting the best products at affordable prices. We strive to ensure that our suppliers treat their employees with respect and fairness, paying them a fair wage and providing a safe and clean working environment. We also believe in fair and honest trading practices, promoting the welfare of the artisans and communities involved in the production of our products.

Our Products

At World Basket, we offer a wide range of antique, vintage, and contemporary textiles, including bags, purses, tassels, clothing, cushions, kilim runners, kilims, and antique and vintage rugs and kilims. Our products are sourced from around the world, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Turkey, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of these regions.
