Our History

Leo Pest Control was established in 1991 by Maurice O'Grady following a chance encounter with a local farmer. Maurice, with his background in countryside pursuits combined with his experience as shift manager at a local plastics factory, understood both the practical needs of businesses and the importance of preserving the environment. The company began modestly, operating part-time from an ex-post office van and a spare bedroom at home.

Over the next decade, Leo Pest Control steadily grew, mirroring the region's economic development. The business moved to its first premises in 2003, then was acquired by Will and Sharon Mears, who continued to build upon the company's foundation. Since then, Leo Pest Control has weathered several economic and environmental challenges, including the foot-and-mouth outbreak, the boom and subsequent recession, stringent regulatory changes, and most recently, the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

The success of Leo Pest Control can be attributed to two key factors: its dedicated and highly skilled team, many of whom have been with the company for years, and its loyal clientele, both old and new, who have trusted Leo Pest Control with their pest control needs. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment that embraces diversity and values the wellbeing of all employees.

Our team of technicians is rigorously trained to the highest standards, holding the RSPH Level 2 Diploma in pest control as a minimum qualification. Every technician is a full member of the British Pest Control Association and holds a Basis Prompt registration, ensuring they are up-to-date on the latest best practices and legislation. We are confident in our ability to comply with the rigorous requirements of various industry standards, including those set by the British Retail Consortium, Marks and Spencer, the Soil Association, Red Tractor, and Campaign for Responsible Use of Rodenticides.
