Our History
Founded in Fishergate, Preston in 1802, Mears Carpets has been family-run for six generations. Originally brush manufacturers and wholesale and retail hardware merchants, we quickly expanded our product range to include toys, fancy and leather goods, carpets, complete house furniture, and furnishings. After a fire destroyed half of our Friargate buildings in 1984, we decided to specialise solely in carpets and floor coverings, which has since become our core business. Today, we supply virtually all the major house builders in the north of England with carpets, wood laminate, and vinyl floorings, as well as contracting to factories, offices, universities, hotels, hospitals, and government departments throughout the UK.
