At Character Builders, we are a family-run company that has been delivering exceptional building, joinery, and decoration services since 1997. Based on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, we are led by four brothers who each bring their unique areas of expertise to the table. Our founders, Tom, Matt, Sam, and Simeon, have a combined wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of service and craftsmanship.

Our Experts

Meet the individuals who make up the award-winning Character Builders team:

Tom: With over 16 years of experience in the building industry, Tom is responsible for client liaison and coordinating the busy schedule of works. His main areas of expertise are roofing and carpentry, and he is passionate about 'green living' and sustainable practices.
Matt: An experienced stone carver and mason, Matt brings his skills as a sculptor to the company. His experience includes working on projects such as the stone carving at the Eden Project, and he has also worked across Europe, including training with marble specialists in Italy.
Sam: With a keen eye for detail in relation to internal finishes of properties, Sam is responsible for project managing sites and coordinating the workforce. His areas of expertise include cob work and stone masonry.
Simeon: The youngest of the four Diffey brothers, Simeon is involved in project managing sites and running the company payroll. He has a deep interest in building and conservation, having recently completed a Historical Building and Conservation Course at Kingston University.
