Our Story

At Ballymullan Architect (BMA) Ltd, we have a rich history of delivering bespoke architecture solutions that exceed our clients' expectations. Our journey began with Jonathan Todd's inception of the practice in 2009, with the establishment of a RIBA Chartered Practice and limited company. Jonathan's passion for architecture was nurtured during his time at Methodist College Belfast, where he secured a placement in tertiary education. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would see him complete his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Queen's University Belfast in 1998.

Early Beginnings

Jonathan's early career was marked by a strong sense of social responsibility and inspirational leadership. During his time at Queen's University, he worked on various NGO building projects in Romania and Uganda, building educational centres and demonstrating initiative and the ability to inspire or act as a role model for others. This work culminated in Jonathan being awarded a Queens Scholarship for his outstanding leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Conservation and Preservation

As Jonathan progressed in his career, he became increasingly aware of the importance of conservation and preservation of the built environment. He witnessed the destruction of landmark buildings either by inappropriate adaptation or demolition in local cities and provincial towns. This sparked a sense of outrage and a desire to make a positive impact. Jonathan's passion for conservation and preservation led him to complete the RSUA Project Management Programme and eventually the diploma in Conservation (RSUA) in 2010.
