Ian Reid Removals was established in 1976 on Unst, the most Northerly of the British Isles, and remains a small independent family business. We are now based at Broonies Taing, Sandwick, and retain our office in Unst. We still specialise in door-to-door nationwide and international removals to and from the Northern Isles, where we understand the ferry systems, the weather, and the logistics. Each and every move has our personal attention from enquiry to delivery. Worldwide moves can be arranged as required.

Our Services

We offer a full packing service where our trained staff use a range of top-quality boxes and materials sourced from BAR services. We have strong wrap covers for furniture, export wrap for large pictures and fragile items, and hanging garments are placed in railed carriers. Plants are taken care of as far as practical. Local moves can be carried out by our trained staff or for those wanting to do most work themselves, why not hire a man&van? We also provide a storage option with 20 containers available inside or outside the Sandwick warehouse. You may choose to have your own padlock and have 24-hour, 7-day access to outside containers.

Accreditations

We are members of the British Association of Removers since 1987 and observe the British Association of Removers code of practice. We use approved contract conditions and liability. Our vehicles range in size from articulated with different sized trailers to rigids and smaller vans mainly used for the remote areas where access can be difficult. We have been commended in the Highlands and Islands Smaller Business awards and have supplied a removal service to the Antiques Road Show when they visited Shetland.
