At Studio 1 Architects, we are a husband and wife architectural design team with decades of experience creating new homes, additions, and interior/exterior renovations. Our Design Process

Our design process begins with identifying and understanding the specific needs of each client and their site. Through conversations and sketch ideas, we resolve the concept and continue to refine the design, considering materials, finishes, spatial details, and overall balance. Through the building phase, we observe the progress to ensure that the design intent is adhered to.

Our Services

At Studio 1 Architects, we offer a range of services, including:

• Architectural Design: We design and produce drawings for the construction of new homes, additions, and renovations. This involves an investigation of context and site analysis, paralleled with an understanding of the client's vision. Concepts and sketches are translated into a buildable form, and drawings are produced of the highest quality of design and detail.

• Feasibility Studies: We analyze the client's program and site in relation to zoning code, building codes, site engineering, and budget requirements. This helps us determine if the intended project scope is possible.

• Design/Build: In addition to our architectural design services, we can also coordinate the building of your project. This includes handling the bidding process to qualified contractors, evaluating bids, and recommending contractors.

• Construction Oversight: After the completion of design and construction drawings, we offer a more in-depth observation of the construction progress by request. This may include issuing reports, approving payout requests, and preparing punch lists.

We are proud to have received numerous awards and recognition for our work, including the 2010 Renovation of the Year from the Glen Ellyn Historic Preservation Commission, the 2008 Gold Icon Award from the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association, and the 2007 Silver Icon Award from the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association, among others.

Meet Our Team

Our team consists of experienced architects with a passion for creating beautiful and functional spaces. Meet our founding principal, Steve Poteracki, who has cultivated over 20 years of experience in the field of architecture. Our project architect, Alison Poteracki, holds a Bachelor degree in Architectural Design from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and a Master of Architecture degree from Washington University, St. Louis.
