Our Story

Our journey began with a desire to create furniture that is both beautiful and functional. Our founder, Christopher Burley, brought his expertise in traditional woodworking skills, combined with contemporary technology, to create unique and bespoke pieces that reflect the essence of modern living. With a background in retail management and IT project management, Christopher's attention to detail and people skills have been instrumental in shaping our studio's ethos.

Our Approach

At Heliconia Furniture Design, we believe that the design process should be a collaborative experience between the client and the designer. We involve our clients from the outset, encouraging them to share their ideas and desires, and work closely with them to create pieces that not only meet but exceed their expectations. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in our slow production and short custody chain, ensuring that our environmental footprint is kept to a minimum.

Our Services

We offer a bespoke commission service for private individuals and commercial businesses, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the client's personality and style. Our portfolio includes commissions for tables, chairs, cocktail cabinets, desks, and sideboards, among others. We also have a range of collections, including The London Plane Project, which explores the versatility of the London Plane tree, and our Arts & Crafts House collection, inspired by the Stickley 'Prairie style' or 'Mission' furniture of the American Arts & Crafts movement.
