At Perrywood, we are an independent, family-owned garden centre and nursery, proudly run by the Bourne family in Essex. Our vision is to inspire people to get more plants in their lives. Our History

Perrywood has a rich history that dates back to the 1950s when Alan Bourne's parents, Mary and Les, bought the land and called it Perrywood Nurseries. They started out growing potatoes and pick-your-own strawberries. After working for Colchester parks department, and seeing the supermarkets begin to take over the strawberry market, son Alan Bourne started to grow plants to sell from the front of the property and took over the business with his wife Karin in 1984. Over the next 30 years, they gradually grew the site into an award-winning garden centre, which now attracts customers from all over Essex and further afield.

Our Services

At Perrywood, we offer a wide range of services to our customers. Our garden centre is one of the largest and most prestigious in the region, with a vast array of plants, including rare and unusual houseplants. Our team of experts is always on hand to offer advice and guidance on all aspects of gardening, from plant selection to garden design. We also have a beautifully designed coffee shop and restaurant, serving delicious food and drinks, including home-cooked meals and afternoon teas.
