Our Story: A Family Run Business Since 1961

In the quaint town of Holt, Norfolk, during November 1961, John Allison established a plumbing and heating business that would soon become a leading provider of home heating and renewable energy solutions in the region. With a strong family ethos, hard work ethics, and a clear vision for his company, John set the foundation for a business deeply rooted in the community it serves.

John, a qualified plumbing and heating engineer, hired his first apprentice in 1963, just two years after starting the business. He believed in the importance of passing on trade skills to the younger generation, fostering a strong sense of continuity and community engagement. From 1967 to 1970, John formed a partnership with Ray Foreman, operating a shop on New Street in Holt.

In 1976, Allison Heating and Plumbing became one of the first firms to be involved in solar water heating systems, showcasing their commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions. In 1984, John purchased land at Old Station Way in Holt and constructed a building to house workshops, storage areas, and garages for the company's vehicles. This site remains the company's home today.

Allison Heating Plumbing Ltd. remains a family business, with John's son-in-law Simon Elliott and John's son Michael Allison serving as company directors. John's daughters, Sharon Morter and Jackie Elliott, work for the business as company secretary and showroom manager, respectively. As Simon Elliott, company director, puts it, "We are a family business and we treat our customers as part of our extended family, with care and respect."

As members of the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC) and the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers (IPHE), Allison Heating and Plumbing Ltd. are Unvented Hot Water System Registered Installers. Our plumbing services cater to a wide range of domestic needs, from a simple tap washer replacement to a complete bathroom installation. Our services include:

As Gas Safe, Oftec, and Unvented Hot Water System Registered Installers, and members of APHC and IPHE, Allison Heating and Plumbing Ltd. design and install natural gas, propane gas (LPG), oil, and electric central heating systems using regular, system, or combination boilers with radiators and/or underfloor heating. Our heating services include:
