Prime Meridian is a highly experienced and accomplished architectural firm, established in 1989. We are based in London and Somerset, with satellite offices in Surrey and Devon. Our team of qualified architects, architectural technologists, structural engineers, and energy assessors are dedicated to delivering exceptional design solutions across multiple sectors.

Architectural Services

We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and preferences, and then use our skills and expertise to bring their vision to life.

We are experienced in a wide range of architectural projects, from new build to refurbishment, in residential, commercial, education, and healthcare sectors. Our staff are qualified architects, architectural technologists, structural engineers, and energy assessors, based in our two main offices in Central London and Somerset, from where we can service most of Southern England.

As both commercial and residential architects, we have seen great changes in the design process and how we communicate and transfer information, and much greater complexity in the building process. We are excited about the future, and how we will embrace new technologies and materials to fulfill our aim to design low carbon, low energy buildings.

Structural Engineering

Our team of experienced structural engineers are dedicated to providing efficient and effective solutions to our clients' structural engineering needs. We manage the structural engineering section, working on a wide range of projects from alterations to Grade I Listed buildings, new multi-storey structures, schools, institutions, and difficult refurbishment projects.

On more than 90% of our projects, we are appointed as both architects and structural engineers. We believe the proximity of our staff in both roles adds value to the design process and reduces design time. Our structural engineers work closely with our architectural team to ensure that the structural elements of a project are integrated seamlessly into the overall design.

Sustainability Consultancy

We are committed to designing for a low carbon future. The challenge is immense, and has to include the 27 million existing buildings, as well as all new buildings. We have invested in knowledge to support clients in the journey towards low energy and sustainable buildings. Our team of experts is dedicated to providing sustainable solutions that meet our clients' needs while minimizing the environmental impact.

Our sustainability consultancy services include energy assessments, sustainable design, and low carbon building solutions. We work closely with our clients to understand their sustainability goals and then develop strategies to achieve them. We believe that sustainable design is not just about reducing energy consumption, but also about creating buildings that are healthy, comfortable, and functional.

Meet Our Team

Our team is led by experienced professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional design solutions. David Minns, our Director and Architect, has been involved with a large number of heritage and Listed Building restoration projects, including large mill buildings, country houses, and former agricultural buildings. John Bater, our Director, has over 35 years of experience as a building designer and has managed large education modernisation projects and new build programmes for multi-storey private and social housing projects.

Jainti Patel, our Structural Engineer, has 40 years of experience and manages the structural engineering section. Simon Hill, our Architectural Technologist, has an MSc in sustainable design and manages our healthcare projects. Dan Bishop, our Architectural Assistant, has a BA (Hons) in Architecture and works closely with our architectural team.
