Designing for a better future, one project at a time.
At Bauman Lyons, we are a collaborative and innovative architectural practice that values working closely with our clients, users, and stakeholders to design and deliver pioneering projects that make a positive impact on the communities we serve. With over three decades of experience, we have worked with a variety of clients across the public, private, and civic sectors, delivering a diverse range of projects that include housing, commercial, marketplaces, schools, museums, urban design, and regeneration frameworks.
Our journey began in 1992, and since then, we have established a prestigious portfolio of projects that showcase our commitment to creativity, innovation, and collaboration. We take pride in our ability to work on new builds, refurbishments, and the repurposing of listed buildings. Our expertise is not limited to these sectors; we also excel in working with communities, civic activists, social enterprises, artists, makers, and academics.
Our Approach
At Bauman Lyons, we believe in a collaborative working ethos that fosters a strong partnership between our clients, stakeholders, and ourselves. Our user-centered approach to design ensures that we focus on creating social value through each design project. To stay ahead of the curve, we integrate research and development into our practice, enabling us to harness the potential of new technologies and better understand the future we are designing for.
Our office is located within a two-hour travel radius of our base in Leeds, which allows us to maintain a close relationship with our clients. We are committed to a better work-life balance, which is why we introduced a 4-day week in 2012, recognizing the importance of striking a balance between work and personal life.
Our Projects
Our passion for design and innovation drives us to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of what is possible. From repurposing listed buildings to creating vibrant public spaces, our projects are a testament to our dedication to transforming communities and enhancing the lives of those who inhabit them.

- Hull Minster: A transformative project that showcases our ability to collaborate with stakeholders to create a positive impact on the local community.
- Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill: A museum that embodies our values of innovation, collaboration, and community engagement.
- Cooke's Studios: A redevelopment project that highlights our expertise in repurposing listed buildings and revitalizing underutilized spaces.
