David Herbert Architects

Welcome to David Herbert Architects, a passionate and ambitious RIBA Chartered Architectural practice located in the heart of Windsor, Berkshire. Our expertise lies mainly in individual contemporary houses, residential schemes, and mixed-use/commercial developments. We undertake refurbishments and extensions to existing properties, which have over the years included extensive works to grade II listed buildings, equally those falling within the Windsor Conservation Area. In recent times, we have also achieved consent for a number of new build homes within the flood plain, and along the River Thames.

Our work to date has included projects in Windsor, mainly across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, and the South East. We have also completed exciting architectural commissions further afield, and are always very willing to broaden our work horizon, by exploring new different ground. We pride ourselves in offering a complete personal service for every appointed project through from inception to completion. Strong communication throughout the process is essential for any project, and we believe this is one of the key elements ensuring a successful outcome.

Our aspiration is to always design beautiful, seemingly effortless, functional, and sustainable buildings - to be lived in and simply enjoyed. We undertake a variety of projects from one-off houses to residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes. Equally, completing work in Conservation Areas, and to Listed Buildings.

Our Story

Established in 2010, we have continued to grow and flourish. We love our work, and the process we follow to its end - to have that ultimate realization is always a complete joy. Our founder, David Herbert, studied Architecture at Portsmouth University in 1995 and graduated with Distinction in 2001. Ba(Hons) Dip. Arch RIBA. With a complete passion for Architecture, it was an easy decision to create David Herbert Architects. Our practice is registered with the Architects Registration Board and the RIBA, being classified as an RIBA Chartered Practice.

Our Approach

Our approach to every project we are commissioned to complete is initially to fully understand the client's brief, their objectives, and the dream of what they are hoping to eventually realize. From initial meetings, we explore options to ensure the best possible solutions are reached - equally understanding through experience, schemes that will have a strong chance of being approved. During the design process, conversation and dialogue we feel are essential, and are the essence of how we work.

We have a love of modern architecture, and the works of 20th Century Architects - this has continued to flourish from University days, inevitably influencing our work. Our passion remains, and we will follow this path if the project allows. We do of course approach each project on its own merits, the site, outlook, and surrounding architecture, and are always respectful of work that has preceded us.

Our Mission

Our mission has always remained simple: listen, design, build, and deliver high-quality projects ultimately exceeding clients' expectations. With a direct and personal approach on every project, clients' needs and wishes are balanced with the opportunities presented, good design, as well as the constraints we inevitably have to work with. The creation of a well-designed and considered space can truly enhance the user's life. Interaction with the natural elements, such as sun, light, water, and nature, which may include views from and within the site, all contribute to the creation of a successful place. The key main elements are always in our thoughts during our design process, and it is our aim to simply indulge in these.
